Cameroon’s economic future depends on its ability to create sustainable jobs, empower youth, and strengthen local institutions. The National Employment Plan (NEP) 2025–2030, designed by the United States–Africa Office of International Trade (USAOIT) under the leadership of Professor Frank Forka, provides a bold and practical roadmap for addressing unemployment, informality, and regional disparities across Cameroon.
The NEP is built on a simple but powerful vision: every region, every council, and every citizen should have access to meaningful economic opportunities. To achieve this, the plan integrates skills development, entrepreneurship support, MSME formalization, diaspora engagement, and regional employment hubs into a unified national strategy.
A key innovation of the NEP is its regionalized approach. Instead of applying a one‑size‑fits‑all model, the plan tailors interventions to the economic realities of each of Cameroon’s ten regions. This ensures that job creation efforts are relevant, sustainable, and aligned with local strengths — from agriculture and agro‑processing to digital services, construction, and trade.
The NEP also emphasizes data‑driven decision‑making, with performance indicators and monitoring tools that allow ministries, councils, and partners to track progress in real time. This approach strengthens accountability and ensures that resources are directed where they have the greatest impact.
The NEP represents a major opportunity for national transformation. USAOIT remains committed to supporting the Government of Cameroon in turning this vision into reality through strategic partnerships, technical expertise, and diaspora‑driven innovation.
